From the figure shown, find the magnetic field at point P if $i = 10$ A, $a = 70$ cm, $\phi_1 = 37°$ and $\phi_2 = 53°$.
✅ Answer & Solution
Magnetic field due to a finite wire at a perpendicular distance $a$:
$$B = \frac{\mu_0 I}{4\pi a}(\sin\phi_1 + \sin\phi_2)$$
$$B = \frac{4\pi \times 10^{-7} \times 10}{4\pi \times 0.70}(\sin 37° + \sin 53°)$$
$$B = \frac{10^{-6}}{0.70}(0.6 + 0.8) = \frac{10^{-6} \times 1.4}{0.70}$$
$$B = 2 \times 10^{-6} \text{ T} = 2\ \mu\text{T}$$
