🔄 Turns — Full, Half, Quarter
Whenever something spins or rotates around a fixed point, it makes a turn. An angle is simply a measure of how much something has turned!
🔑 Key Turns

🎡 A giant wheel makes a full turn when it comes back to its starting point. Two half turns in the same direction = 1 full turn. Two quarter turns in the same direction = 1 half turn. Four quarter turns = 1 full turn.
📐 Types of Angles
Angles are named based on how big the turn is compared to a quarter turn (right angle):
Acute
Less than 1/4 turn
Right
Exactly 1/4 turn
Obtuse
Between 1/4 and 1/2 turn
Straight
Exactly 1/2 turn

🥧 Eighth Turns & Measuring Tools
We can divide a full turn into even smaller, equal parts — like eighths or twelfths — to measure angles more precisely.

A 2/8 turn is exactly half of a 1/4 turn (since 2/8 = 1/4... wait, 2/8 = 1/4 of a FULL turn, and half of a quarter-turn would be 1/8). Remember: 1/8 turn is half of a 1/4 turn; 2/8 turn = 1/4 turn (a right angle).
1/12 turn = half of a 1/6 turn (since 6/12 = ½ and dividing a sixth in half gives a twelfth)
💡 Making your own tool: Cut a circle from tracing paper, fold it into equal parts (like 8 or 12), attach a straw at the centre, and mark a starting point. Now you can measure any turn by rotating the straw!
🕐 Clockwise & Anti-clockwise
🔑 Two Directions of Turning
Clockwise = the direction the hands of a clock move (like: 12→3→6→9→12).Anti-clockwise = the opposite direction (12→9→6→3→12).
Everyday examples:
- Opening most taps: usually anti-clockwise
- Tightening a screw/nut: usually clockwise ("righty tighty")
- Unscrewing a lid: usually anti-clockwise ("lefty loosey")
🧭 A half turn (180°) gives the SAME final direction whether you turn clockwise or anti-clockwise!
🕰️ Turns on a Clock Face
The minute hand of a clock makes a full turn (360°) every 60 minutes. This gives us a handy way to connect turns with time!

💡 Trick: Minutes = (fraction of turn) × 60. E.g., 1/6 turn = 60÷6 = 10 minutes.
