1. Economic vs Non-Economic Activities
Economic activities involve money or money's worth. Non-economic activities don't generate income โ they're done out of love, care, gratitude or respect.

A regular school teacher gets a salary for teaching (economic) โ but if someone volunteers to teach for free, out of goodwill, that's non-economic, even though the activity looks the same!

3. Value Addition
Value addition โ economic activities add value at each stage of transforming something into another, more useful form.

From buying raw material to selling the finished product, every step that involves payment is part of the economic activity โ and each step can add more value.
4. The Importance of Non-Economic Activities
Sevฤ means selfless service โ seen at temples, gurudwaras, mosques and churches. Langars (community kitchens) at gurudwaras serve free food to every visitor, fostering gratitude and giving back without expecting anything in return.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan โ citizens collectively cleaning streets and public spaces.
Van Mahotsav โ the "festival of forests", bringing communities together for tree plantation drives.

Even though non-economic activities don't involve money, they generate something just as important: social value โ trust, care, and a sense of shared belonging.
