๐State (Nation) = political organisation with authority to govern a defined territory & its population
โ๏ธGovernment = group of people who RUN the country โ changes with elections. The state is permanent!
๐กThink of it: India (the state) is permanent. The current government (Modi govt / next govt) changes every 5 years!
4 Parts of a State

โRule of the people โ power comes from citizens
โDirect: everyone votes on every issue (ancient Athens)
โRepresentative: elect MPs/MLAs who vote on your behalf

โHead of state is elected โ not a hereditary king!
โIndia's President = elected (indirectly) by Parliament & state assemblies
โNo royal family decides who leads โ citizens do!
๐ก India is a Democratic Republic!
India is both a Democracy (people choose their representatives through elections) AND a Republic (the head of state โ the President โ is elected, not a king).
