About

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC), Indore, is a government medical college established in 1948 and one of the oldest medical institutions in India. Its origins go back to 1878, when the Central Indian Medical School was founded in Indore, later renamed King Edward Medical School in 1911, making it among the earliest medical schools in Asia. The school was upgraded to a full medical college in 1948 after Independence and renamed in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The college is attached to Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MY Hospital), established in 1955, which is one of Central India's largest government teaching hospitals with more than 1,500 beds and provides extensive clinical exposure across specialities. MGMMC is recognised by the National Medical Commission and admits students to MBBS through NEET UG counselling, with 85 percent state quota seats allotted by the Madhya Pradesh authorities and 15 percent through the all India quota.
