Indo German Tool Room, Indore, now operating as MSME Technology Centre, Indore, was established in 1995 as a Central Government project set up with technical assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany, with the Government of Madhya Pradesh providing the land, building and infrastructure. It is located in Sector E of the Industrial Area on Sanwer Road and is one of the leading tool rooms in central India. Alongside its industrial services, which include design and manufacture of press tools, moulds, die casting dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges, precision CNC job work and pilot production of precision components, the centre runs full-time technical training programmes. These include the Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making, which has a strong placement record, along with diplomas in Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering and D.Voc programmes, with a total student intake of about 300. Students train on production-grade machinery used for real industrial orders, including specialised magnets for electron beam accelerators and form fill and blow fill moulds for the pharmaceutical industry, which gives the tool and die programmes their industry standing.
