Government College, Rau was started in 2011 in the industrial area of Rau on the outskirts of Indore and is a co-educational institution affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. It is recognised by the UGC and accredited by NAAC with a B grade. The college serves more than 2,200 students on a spacious green campus and has recently added postgraduate programmes in 11 major subjects across Arts, Science and Commerce, alongside its core BA, B.Com and B.Sc undergraduate degrees, with BA as the flagship course. The library occupies about 4,576 square feet and holds around 3,787 books including reference and competitive examination material, with a reading hall, newspapers, magazines and research papers, and 12 operational computers with internet access connecting students to online resources such as the National Digital Library of India. Other facilities include well-equipped laboratories, sports grounds, an IT facility, a gym and a health centre offering first aid. Admission is merit-based on MP Board or CBSE Class 12 results through the state e-Pravesh portal.
